Taiwan trip

Hi. This is my first blog post, so I'm gonna write up about something more personal.
P/S: I seriously love travelling and I'd try to travel at least twice per year!

9 Dec-12 Dec
Day 1

We arrived at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at around 5pm and we took the Kuo kuang bus (the name of the public bus there). We boarded bus #1819 that departs from the airport and will terminate at Taipei Main Station (East gate exit 3). The bus there generally arrives at a 10-15mins interval and it's pretty easy to navigate around the airport. But if you really need help with directions, just feel free to ask around. Most of them are more than willing to help!

For the trip, we stayed at Ximen Hedo Hotel Kangding and the quality of the hotel is actually pretty good, given that there were complimentary drinks and breakfast (Macdonalds) throughout your stay. The only flaw would be the really small toilet, so be prepared to cramp yourself in the small cubicle for your businesses there. Haha!
The standard room costs S$70/80 for a night and if you book the hotel through www.booking.com , you might even get them at cheaper deals! Well... who doesn't want to save those extra dollars for more shopping? ;)

Also! We went to the Raohe night market via Song Shan MRT.
Rated as one of the best night market in Taiwan, you'll definitely not leave here disappointed given their large variety of delicious local street food!

Day 2

For Day 2, we visited both Jiufen and Shifen.
To visit these 2 places, you would have to take a 35mins express train from the Taipei Rail station to Ruifang. *Make sure you book your tickets in advance so you wouldn't have to waste time queuing up on the day itself!

For us we got this awesome deal from Klook. Trust me its really damn worth it!

When you reach Ruifang, you can head to either Jiufen or Shifen. It's really up to you since Ruifang is at the center of both places.

For us, we decided to start with Jiufen first by taking  the west exit of the train station to Jiufen. There, you can choose to take a public transport or taxi up to Jiufen Old Street. We choose to take the taxi (NTD$180) since we were pretty lazy to figure which bus to take up.

The view up here is just so breathtaking!

After Jiufen, you can take the public transport down from Jiufen Old Street back to Ruifang. Then take Train 4722 to Pingxi Train station. Take note that the train comes only once an hour, so plan your timing well, if not you will end up wasting your time waiting at the station!

sighs... it started raining!

Shifen waterfall

It takes around 15-20 mins walk from Shifen old street to Shifen Waterfall. The waterfall is Taiwan's broadest waterfall with a total height of 20m and 40m in width. This whole area is just so beautiful, a pity it was raining when we were there! The entire walking trail takes around 45-60mins, it's totally worth it man!

Day 3

The most prominent historical landmark in Taiwan! Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall was opened in 1980 as part of a national park and gathering area.

They got good natural lighting too :)

Next we headed to Xiangshan station from CSK memorial train station, take Exit 2 and continue walking along the pathway to the end of the road, turn left and you will see the entrance to XiangShan Hiking Trail. The hike takes a total of 20-25 mins. warning there are really a lot of flight of stairs! But don't give up its all worth it!!
climbed all the way up to get this view!
If you see this big stone sign, you know you're reaching the top!!!

Day 4

Day 4, we took the high speed rail from Taipei to Tainan, which is known for its centuries old fortresses and temples. I really like the lifestyle here in Tainan, everyone seems so laidback, lets just say life here is not so stressful and packed as compared to Taipei.

Mon, Thu, Fri: 2.00 - 9.00pm
Sat, Sun: 11.00am - 9.00pm

This is a famous Japanese-style shop near the fabric market in west central Tainan. They only serve 2 different flavours made fresh daily, the flavours are all very unique and priced at around TWD $70.

Don't forget to visit Anping tree too, its one of the main attraction in Tainan!
This is just a very cool place to go, the whole house was literally taken over by the banyan tree
There is also a TWD $50 entrance fee for this. It gets very busy on weekends, so be prepared!
